Lafayette strives to plan a variety of activities on campus for students, alumni, and their families for Homecoming weekend.

 College Policy Regarding Open Containers

On Homecoming Day, the College has provided for a one-day exemption to the ordinary prohibition of possession of open containers only for the Markle Parking decks for those of legal drinking age (21 years of age or older).  This exemption applies between the hours of 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on September 28.

Tailgating activities will be suspended at game time (3:30 p.m.).  Students are encouraged to get tickets for the game well in advance so they may enter Fisher Stadium at this time. Police, Public Safety officials and security guards will assist in clearing tailgates for the start of the game.

Individual students of legal drinking age in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania may carry alcohol onto the Markle Parking deck up to the College’s personal carry limit.

Lafayette College Alcohol Policy prohibits kegs, party balls, and items or games promoting the rapid consumption of alcohol. All alcoholic beverages consumed during the tailgate event must be consumed from plastic cups.  No glass containers, handles, cans, funnels, flasks, or similar containers are permitted.

The College’s personal carry limit is defined as one (1), six-pack of 12 oz. canned beer, or the equivalent in malt beverages or wine (No glass containers will be permitted).  One alcoholic drink is 12 oz. of beer or 5 oz. of wine.  Once again, students who are of age are reminded to drink responsibly. If one chooses to drink alcohol while tailgating, the College recommends that students limit their consumption to one drink per hour and to hydrate throughout the event.

Students must be 21 years of age or older to drink alcohol under Pennsylvania law.  Students who choose to drink alcohol at the tailgate must have proper identification. Police, security, Public Safety officials, and the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Enforcement Agency will be in attendance. Acceptable forms of identification include a valid passport or state-issued ID accompanied by a Lafayette College Student ID card.

For those serving alcohol to others, they are responsible for complying with the legal drinking age and are reminded of the social host liability law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania State Law (Act 31) prohibits the consumption or furnishing of alcoholic beverages to those under the legal drinking age of 21.

As a reminder, public drunkenness is illegal. Behaviors that are disruptive or that violate College policy will also be addressed.  Students may be cited and removed from the pre-game activities. Visibly intoxicated students, in addition to being cited, will be denied admission to the pre-game activities as well as the football game.
